Fitness Centers


The newly constructed SRC features a 50-foot climbing wall.

University Recreation at Appalachian offers three fitness and recreation centers for informal fitness/recreation, fitness classes and workshops to help the Appalachian community establish and maintain a healthy lifestyle. All facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art cardio equipment and weight rooms.

  • The Student Recreation Center located on the corner of Rivers Street and Bodenheimer Drive, features two gymnasiums for intramural sports, club sports and free play, suspended walking/jogging track, 50-meter swimming pool, 50-foot climbing wall, as well as housing the main administrative offices for University Recreation and Outdoor Programs. It also includes a "Smoothie/Juice bar".
  • The Quinn Center on Stadium Drive also features a gymnasium for basketball/volleyball free play, walking/jogging track, racquetball courts, and aerobics studio.
  • Mount Mitchell Life Fitness Centre on the third floor of Plemmons Student Union features an aerobics studio in addition to weight room and cardio equipment.
