Parts of the Rocky Mountain, the Alps, the Himalaya, and even parts of the Appalachian Mountains consist of sedimentary rocks.  The sedimentary rocks are now exposed at the surface as weathered continental crust.  In conjunction with the removal of overlying rocks by erosion, how do you suppose this happened?
