The lights are shut down.

The stadium goes black and I can’t even see the people standing around me.

It’s pure silence.

Then as I look around to try to get my bearings, I see on one side of the bleachers it says hope spelled out with candles and on the other side it says believe.

The words sink in and they have this way of grabbing at your stomach. The song “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban plays on the stadium sound system.

I slowly hear the cries and the grief. You can slightly read the names written on each and every candle aligning the stadium.
