Literacy
Exploring Language Literacy in Middle and Secondary Science (ELLMS2) was a professional development institute for middle and secondary scince teachers in western North Carolina. The goal of the program was to help science teachers incorporate literacy learning (reading and writing) in their classes in a way that supported science inquiry.
Some examples of topics addressed in the Institute included:
* Pre-, during- and post- reading strategies
* Dealing with academic language and science vocabulary
