Welcome to Dr. Yongbeom Hur's Web site. I am an associate professor and graduate faculty member of public administration in the Department of Government and Justice Studies at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. I am also a leading professor of a study abroad program, Experiencing South Korea: Its Culture, History, and Politics. Every Summer, I go to South Korea with a group of students and explore diverse aspects of South Korea for about three weeks (visit the program website http://hite189.wix.com/korea for more information).

As a public management scholar, I am interested in comparing managerial approaches and their effects on organizational performance between private and public sectors. Part of the reason may be coming from my unique working experiences in both sectors. My teaching and research interests include human resource management, research methods, and quantitative approaches to public management
