Learn about transferring credits to App State
Sociology is the study of social life, social change and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. Sociologists investigate the structure of groups, organizations and societies and how people interact within these contexts.
Sociological research is at the heart of App State’s Bachelor of Science (BS) in Sociology - Applied Research Methods. After graduating, you will be prepared for a range of possible occupations in research design, data collection and data analysis in both the public and private sector. This is beneficial in a field where sociologists often provide program evaluation, create written and oral reports for clients and work with a variety of organizations.
The Applied Research Methods concentration is also a strong preparation for graduate school, where research skills are highly emphasized.
The Princeton Review named App State among the best schools in the U.S. and Southeast for 2024.
U.S. News & World Report ranked App State the Most Innovative School in the South for 2024.
App State’s quality, affordability, and student outcomes place it among the nation’s 2023 best schools for value, according to Money.com.
