How to start your International Student Application

Steps to:
Application and Admissions Process
- Research your academic program and connect with your international admissions counselor.
- Complete and submit the online application (nonrefundable fee of $65 or fee waiver)
- Research ways to fund your App State education
- Receive admission decision from App State
- Complete I-20 request form
- Make a visa appointment with your local Embassy upon receiving your I-20 from ISSSO
- Receive your student visa and then reserve your flight to the USA
- Travel to Boone, North Carolina, for International Student Orientation before beginning classes
Application Deadlines
Semesters begin in the fall (August), spring (January) and summer (June). In order to have time to evaluate your international credentials, we may need to receive some of your information early.
Undergraduate Program Deadlines
First-year international applicants are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Suggested application date: Nov. 1 for full scholarship opportunities
Transfer International Applicants
- Oct. 15: Spring Entry
- Feb. 1: Fall or Summer Entry
Graduate Program Deadlines
If you use a NACES accredited credential evaluation service you can follow the deadlines listed for your graduate program of interest, provided that leaves enough time for the visa process in your home country.
If you are not using an approved credential evaluation service, you must complete your application and send official transcripts by:
- Dec. 15: Spring Entry
- Feb. 15: Summer Entry
- May 15: Fall Entry
- Select graduate programs have a Feb. 1 deadline, meaning the application must be completed by Feb. 1.

Admissions
The admissions team works with first-year and transfer international applicants to help them explore their educational opportunities at App State and meet the requirements for admission. The admissions team will:
- answer questions about the application process;
- collect application documents;
- make official acceptance decision and send acceptance letter; and
- offer university scholarships and fellowships to students.
Office of International Education and Development
Once you have been notified of acceptance into App State, the Office of International Education and Development will:
- assist you with your student visa and I-20;
- provide immigration advising;
- help you arrange housing and transportation; and
- provide information about attending orientation.
