1. Each week, your instructor will let you know
which experiment you will perform next in the laboratory. you may
also be given a reading or other assignment to prepare you for the
experiment. Always bring a calculator, paper, pen, pencil, and lab
manual to class. It is also helpful to bring your textbook.
2. Please arrive on time. People walking
in late are a distraction to the rest of the class. Also,
important instruction and precautions are frequently given during the
first few minutes of the period. Tardiness will cause your
laboratory grade to suffer.
3. Lab reports should be turned by the end of
the lab period. Failure to turn in a lab report will result in a
lower grade according to your specific instructor's policy.
4. Generally, you will work with a single
designated lab partner, although occasionally you will be instructed to
work individually or in a larger group. The instructor reserves
the right to designate lab partners. Each partner is expected to
make some of the laboratory measurements and to write part of the lab
write report. The report will be a joint effort, with each partner
receiving the same grade.
5. Be sure to leave laboratory equipment set up
as you found it (unless otherwise instructed). All partners in a group
are equally responsible for leaving the apparatus in undamaged condition
and for leaving the work area neat and clean for the next class.
6. Three unexcused absences will result in a
failing grade for the entire course (lecture and lab). An excused
absences will be granted only in the case of serious extenuating
circumstances. You must provide the instructor with a written
statement including the date of absence and the unavoidable cause.
Preferably, this should be done prior to the absence, and no later than
one week after the scheduled lab period. Students may not attend
lb sections other that their assigned one without the expressed
permission of the instructors of both sections.
7. Do not drink, eat, or use tobacco in the
laboratory. You may take a break at any time and leave the lab.
8. You are expected to remain in the laboratory
for the full two hours. This should be sufficient time for you and
your partner to complete the lab report. |
