Branding with a Team.

Font Family, Senior Exhibition Branding, 2022.

During my time in Typography III, although I learned many more useful skills, such as reflections of design practices, weekly typographic exercises, and many other individualistic practices. But perhaps one of my favorite, and one of the most beneficial projects I had to learning experiences is working together with my classmates as a collective to become a branding team for the Fall 2022 Senior Studio Exhibition.

Although a collective branding project may seem chaotic, I believe that the greatest learning experience I had in this was learning how to collaborate with other designers, sharing ideas, and sharing tasks to complete the exhibition branding. For our exhibition, we split up into small teams that focused on individual parts of the show, such as a team that was focused on takeaway postcards for guests to take with them, a promotional poster and social media team, a vinyl team, and other subsets. While I mainly worked on floor and wall vinyl cutting and instillation, I felt a strong sense of collaboration and togetherness from all teams; other designers on the team pitched in on areas where they were needed, and there was a natural order that kept the instillation process relaxed and fun as we went.

Once all things were printed, posts were promoted, and vinyl was installed, we ended up putting together a strong exhibit brand that came from a place of collaboration, care, and communication.

After experiencing our work with Font Family, I learned many important lessons on the values of communication, teamwork, and a strong group effort from all members of the teams. It especially seemed to pay off when at the reception of the show, and being able to see just how well our branding complimented the works at the show. Font Family is a very special piece to me, because of the lessons I've learned from collaborating with other designers.
