Social Impact Branding

O! Branding kit, 2022.

When thinking about a societal issue that is important to me, especially considering the way that things are changing, I thought that creating an approachable inclusive sex education brand would make for an interesting and beneficial experience.

Sex education is an uncomfortable, often avoided topic. This combined with the ever growing presence of backwards policies, such as the reversal of Roe V. Wade, it is extremely important to be mindful of the impact sex education has on society. This is why, I picked inclusive sex education as my social issue for my social impact branding project for Typography III.

We often underestimate the value of what it means to be inclusive, especially when it comes to sex education topics. The central conflict my branding addresses is the lack of resources and proper scientific backing of sex education practices, especially for LGBTQIA+ individuals and those underrepresented in sex education topics. O! seeks to include all individuals and provide scientifically-backed information, while making sex education an approachable topic.

While reflecting on the experiences that I have learned while completing this brand project, I would like to come back to this project and further flesh out these ideas. While I think the logotype is strong, I would have liked to make a more explorative approach to other aspects of this branding, including the color scheme and typographic choices.
