Spanish MA Offerings in Fall, Spring, and two Summer Sessions:

The Spanish M.A. concentration is offered either part-time via distance education in Hickory (fall/spring), OR full-time on campus for residential students. Please click on the appropriate option below to find more information on your program preferences.

Fall and Spring classes are scheduled weekly in the evenings (5:00-7:30 p.m.), in an online/hybrid format. In the Fall and Spring distance-ed offerings, 10 course sessions are delivered entirely online, and 5 course sessions (approximately one every three weeks) meet at our facility in Hickory, directly off I-40. This combination of online and face-to-face meetings allows us to offer an interactive, high-quality program to students who are teaching or pursuing other employment during the day.

In the Fall, two courses are available for Spanish students in online/hybrid format via distance education.

In the Spring, one course is available for Spanish students in this format. An additional course may be taken on campus once weekly (evenings).

During the first summer session (late May through June), a professional education course is offered which fulfills requirements for the degree. Summer Session 1 courses generally meet twice weekly in the evenings (5:00-7:30) for a total of five weeks.

During the second summer session, all students are encouraged to participate in the Summer Institute held the last three weeks of July. Two graduate courses (6 hours total) are offered in the three-week period. These courses count as Spanish electives in the student’s Program of Study. In most Institute courses, students receive an “I” (incomplete) grade for a final project, which is completed by mid-September. The Institute allows students to network with others from across the state and beyond, and it speeds up students’ progress towards completing their degrees.
