Editorial Policy

The American Journal of Criminal Justice is a multidisciplinary journal devoted to the study of criminal and deviant behavior, the social and political response to crime, and other phenomena related to crime and social justice. The primary goal of the Journal is to promote erudition among scholars from relevant disciplines. The American Journal of Criminal Justice will publish articles that utilize a broad range of methodologies, giving preference to research that broadens understanding of criminal or deviant behavior, that addresses timely policy issues, or that focuses on current controversies concerning crime, law, and social justice.

Submission Procedures

Manuscripts must be typed, double-spaced, and must not exceed 30 pages in length (including tables, charts, end notes, references, etc.). Five copies of the manuscript must be submitted, accompanied by an abstract that does not exceed 150 words and a brief biographical sketch of the author(s). Style should conform to that outlined in the American Psychological Association style manual (1994). Submission of a manuscript to the American Journal of Criminal Justice is regarded as a commitment by the author(s) to publish therein; manuscripts submitted simultaneously to another journal will be rejected automatically. Editorial decisions are completed normally within 90 days of receipt of manuscript.

The American Journal of Criminal Justice is abstracted or indexed in Sociological Abstracts, Psychological Abstracts, Public Affairs Information Service, International Political Science Abstracts, Criminal Justice Periodical Index, Criminology, Penology, and Police Science Abstracts, and Criminal Justice Abstracts.
