Script:
“We’re going
to talk about reading logs and why it is important to keep a record of the
books you are reading or have read. (Distribute
copies of the daily reading log.) This reading log is to be used to record
all books that you read during the year. When this log is full, you can ask me
for another one. You will be required to read a total of 30 minutes or longer
each night. You will record the title of the book, the date you began reading
the book, and the date you finished. Please record whether you abandoned the
book as well. I would also like for you to keep record of the type of genre
you’re reading and comment about how you liked the book or why you didn’t like
the book. By keeping a record of the books you read, you will be able to
remember authors’ names of books you enjoyed. You will be able to inform others
about books you disliked. You will introduce yourself to genre you never
thought you would read. A reading log will allow you to locate a group of books
you can relate to and enjoy reading. I would like for you keep your reading log
in the front section of your reading journal for easy access. Let’s begin
reading.”
