History
On October 11, 2004, the University of North Carolina signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Fudan University in China to establish and conduct mutually agreed upon cooperative and collaborative projects, programs, and activities. Fudan University President Wang Shenghong and members of his staff traveled to North Carolina for the occasion and spent the day visiting with faculty and touring facilities at North Carolina State University and UNC-Chapel Hill. That evening, they were honored at a reception at the home of President Molly Corbett Broad attended by campus chancellors, senior University administrators and faculty; state legislators and agency representatives; and key officials in commerce and research in the Research Triangle area. Following a signing ceremony, both President Broad and President Wang spoke about the partnership. The new MOU builds on an established relationship between Appalachian State University and Fudan. Initiated in 1996, the William R. Holland Fellows Program provides Walker College of Business students the opportunity to join students at Fudan University's School of Management each year.
