Full Courses (up to 6 hrs. total)

We offer 3 graduate courses and one undergraduate course as part of the Institute. French and Spanish graduate courses and an undergraduate course in German meet in the mornings (9:40-12:40) and an FL graduate methods course meets in the afternoons (1:40-4:40), meaning students can take up to 2 courses for academic credit. If you wish to earn academic credit at the institute, click on How to Apply to find out more about the application process. You can click on the links below for more information about the courses themselves.

FL 5545 Materials Design for the Development of L2 Literacy Skills (grad)
FRE 5025 French Cultural Studies (grad)
GER 3055 Culture and Civilization of Modern Germany (undergrad)
SNH 5026 Hispanic Cultural Studies (grad)

Professional Development (1 week modules)

If you don’t need academic credit you can take any one-week module (July 12-16, 19-23, or 26-30) within any of the courses above for professional development. Visit the Courses page for the contents of each module, keeping in mind that you can choose two 1-week modules for your subject area (morning and afternoon), take all three modules of a single course, or all three modules of two courses for professional development purposes. Each module involves 20 contact hours, and current teachers should check with their school districts regarding how many credits can be awarded for each module. Click on How to Apply to find out how to apply for individual modules.
